Color is everything. Exaggerated color evokes emotion. As a painter, my goal is always the same, to communicate the feeling of the moment.
I have enjoyed painting for most of my life, but I started studying with masters in my later years. In 2009 I took a workshop with Hilda Neily in Provincetown, MA. She introduced me to the principles of set forth by the Cape School of Art, which was started by Charles Hawthorne in 1899.
Hawthorne passed the care of the school to Henry Hensche who was teacher to many of my teachers. Henry Hensche's influence on art and artist was wide and deep. Hensche's major gift to art was sharing his understanding of color and how it effects the viewer. The first words from people who view my paintings are always about the color. It's almost as if they inhale the color.
